Strand 5: “Shifting Sexualities, Masculinities and Femininities: LGBTQI”

Strand 5: Shifting Sexualities, Masculinities and Femininities: LGBTQI

This strand seeks contributions concerned with recent (and older) shifts in understanding the relationships between sexualities, genders, and their meanings for selves, practices, and politics. What new formations of social life are reshaping and are reshaped by them? What theoretical developments can help us rethink their intersections present and past? How can we understand the relationship between feminism and other approaches to the study of sexuality? How can we grasp the similarities and differences of sexual identities, practices, and politics across time and space? What, if anything, holds these six letters together, and under what constraints? We hope for work from a range of scholarly perspectives and methodologies: literary, philosophical, historical, scientific, political, and social.

The strand is co-ordinated by Hadley Z. Renkin (renkinh@ceu.hu), Eszter Tímár (etimar@ceu.hu). Please contact us with any questions or ideas.

Note that the deadline for the call for papers is August 15, 2011.
